BIEI, Hokkaido -- A colorful carpet of flowers is seen at the 15-hectare Shikisai-no-oka garden in this northern Japan town in this recent photo. Flowers of some 300,000 plants, consisting of about 15 varieties including salvia, marigold and cockscomb create the rolling hills' colorful stripes, to the delight of tourists. Visitors can also enjoy the spectacle from tractor-pulled carriages or motorized carts. The flowers are at their best for viewing until the end of September. Admission to the garden is 300 yen (approx. $2.20) for elementary and junior high school students, and 500 yen (roughly $3.60) for high school students and older.
